My current skincare routine (Products Under $30)

Take this post with a grain of salt. Skincare is very personal.

I’ve suffered from acne and what cured me was Accutane. If you are looking for Acne solutions, this is not the place. Feel free to try any of these products at your own risk. They might work for you. My ultimate recommendation is to go to a dermatologist.

In the mornings I wash my face with any regular cleanser. It’s usually Neutrogena. Followed by that is the Matcha Toner from Milk. I don’t know if it does anything. I’m not really sure. The only thing I feel after using it is that my skin feels more hydrated. I’m still on the hunt for a good toner.

When my skin feels a little bit dry I like to give it a boost with The Ordinary’s hyaluronic acid, which helps skin lock in moisture and look plumper.  It feels tacky at first, but let it settle in your skin for a minute or two. After, I’ll use my favorite everyday moisturizer: Glossier Priming Moisturizer. It never fails me. It hydrates my skin, absorbs quickly, and helps prime my skin before makeup.

The final step, sunscreen. IT’S CRUCIAL FOR YOUR SKIN! The benefits of sunscreen are endless, but if you’re tired of the pep talk let’s add that sunscreen is the best anti-aging product there is. Yes, sunscreen prevents wrinkles. Yes, the sun gives you wrinkles.

I know choosing sunscreen is annoying. Especially, when all sunscreens are tacky to the touch and leave a white cast. But my friend, there is such a thing as a comfortable sunscreen. My favorites include Glossier’s Sunshield. I haven’t repurchased it because it costs $25, and sunscreen is the first thing that runs out if you’re using it every day–which you should!

Glossier’s Sunshield: It smells like lemons. Or something very similar. It has a gel consistency and you apply it like a dream. It leaves no white cast. The con side is that you need like two to three pumps to cover your whole face, and it’s not waterproof.

For more affordable sunscreens, here comes Missha. It’s a Korean brand I buy on Amazon. The sunscreens range from $8 – $12. Way better than Glossier’s. I’ve tried a couple of sunscreens from them.

Missha All Around Safe Block Essence Sun: This one is my favorite from the two. It’s super easy to apply and doesn’t interfere with my skincare. Your skin is left a little bit more moisturized. It takes a couple of minutes for it to completely settle on your skin. I’ve applied makeup immediately after, and it works perfectly. You don’t have to wait. It doesn’t leave a white cast.

Missha Sun Milk: If you have oily skin I think this one will work perfectly for you. It’s super easy to apply and a little goes a long way. It leaves the skin matte. The only thing I don’t like about this sunscreen is how it dries out my hands. I literally have to go with a Nivea moisturizer so my hands feel normal again, or I have to wash the sunscreen off.

Removing your makeup is key to clear and healthy skin. Cleansing your skin at night makes a huge difference.

I always remove my makeup before bed. It’s a must. You should be as diligent removing your makeup as you are brushing your teeth. My technique for removing my makeup consists in double cleansing. The first cleanser removes your makeup, impurities, etc. and the second cleanser takes away any residue that didn’t leave the first time.

My favorite way to remove makeup is with oil cleansers. The best affordable oil cleanser I’ve tried is Simple’s Oil Cleanser. It does the job. The bad thing is you run out of it very quickly. It stops being affordable when you have to repurchase it every three weeks.

My holy grail right now is Clinique’s Take The Day Off balm. It’s up there in price, costing $27. Hear me out, it’s totally worth it. I bought it back in 02/26. We are in the middle of April and I’m ONLY a quarter through! Removing your makeup with this balm becomes so easy, you don’t dread it as much. If you want to invest in a cleanser, invest in this one.

Glossier’s Milky Jelly (Glossier review). I love Milky Jelly for removing the bare minimum of makeup. It does remove makeup, but you’d have to wash your face twice to make sure it’s actually gone. I don’t trust it with one cleanse only. With that said, Milky Jelly is a cult favorite because of its texture. It’s a gel formula that glides on your skin. Your skin feels refreshed and hydrated. You can even rub your eyes with it (non-waterproof mascara only) and it feels amazing.

After cleansing my skin I go with Glossier’s Solution (acid exfoliator). I’m going to do a whole review of this product, so wait for it for more details. The only thing I want to say is that this product got rid of my skin texture. I couldn’t believe it.

For night moisturizers I’ve been really enjoying Simple’s Waterboost Sleeping Cream. If you’ve ever tried Glossier’s Moon Mask, is like the mask but as a moisturizer. I’m so impressed by this formula. Thank you Allure for recommending it! It absorbs quickly and you wake up with your face looking refreshed. I know it says it’s a sleeping cream, but I’ve used it underneath makeup and it works wonderfully.

When my skin is super dry and needs a boost, I use Egyptian Magic. You’ll wake up with baby soft skin. This cream is multipurpose which makes it 10x more worth it. I used it on a sunburn and the next day I saw results. The redness was less noticeable. By the third day, it was gone. It has dozens of other uses too. Also, the smallest tub will last you such a long time…
