Women in NASA

Women started to be part of NASA since 1922, back when it was known as NACA. But it was in 1935 when men were drafted for the war more women started to come in to fill in the roles as human computers.

Human computers were people who literally had to do all the math equations and computations done by hand!!!! I can’t even subtract without using my fingers. Even the engineers sent out a memo saying “the girls” did the equations faster and more accurately than they ever could.

Shout out to “Hidden Figures” (2016) movie that relates the story of three African-American women mathematicians, Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, and Katherine Johnson, who were plain and simple geniuses.
